Stephen Colbert Calls Obama The Meryl Streep of Presidents
Stephen Colbert went on Late Show with David Letterman last night to promote the paperback edition of I Am America (And So Can You!) (now with even more paper!) The best part was when Colbert called Obama the Meryl Streep of Presidents. Does that make Joe Biden the Melanie Griffith of Vice Presidents? Yes, yes it does.

What about Obama deserves respect?
His ignorance of world cultures?
His frequent trips to and fro to promote nothing? (Anyone know how expensive it is to fly him anywhere? It takes a minimum of 6 planes, 2 AF 1's, 2 cargo planes that carry his motorcade and marine 1, and 2 support planes full of Secret Service agents and military sharpshooters)
How about giving billions of dollars we don't have to banks who are still pocketing the money?
Or the billions to the auto industry that still threatens to claim Crysler? (Auto workers and bankers are more deserving of a job than you or me?)
How bout the "Stimulus Plan" that in reality, doesn't stimulate anything? Are YOU seeing a dime? No, state government is seeing it, what are they doing with it? Putting up new guardrails on the interstate is a great use of resources.
I know, the dead on winner… the Healthcare reform bill…. let's look at that for a moment. 2000 and some odd pages of tricks and treats (remind you of the tax code by any chance?). A bill that was SUPPOSED to introduce a public healthcare plan, it doesn't. What DOES it do? It forces you to carry health insurance, if you are really down on your luck, it's going to be a tight squeeze, even with alledged "government subsidy" (they can't give you money towards your insurance if they don't have it to give). Oh I forgot, you'll be able to BUY your coverage from the government itself… at a substantial premium.
I am all for giving people respect where respect is due. I respect the OFFICE of the President, but it doesn't necessarily mean I hav eto respect the PERSON sitting in it. If he did anything worthy of respect than I am happy to hear it, I don't judge the man on the color of his skin, I judge him on the merit of what he has done, which so far is nothing. All I have seen him do is spend TRILLIONS of dollars we don't have sucking up to the 3rd world, bailing out industries that could care less and jetsetting the globe on MY dollar… while all the time complaining about the massive recession.
I am not arguing or complaining about anyones point of view, I am just giving an honest opinion, and would like to hear some of the man's positive points.
I believe that there is not enough respect being shown for the President. it may be true that he is doing things differently than past presidents, but people need to give him a break. It is my opinion that the reason that the United States is in the state it is is simply because of people, like Mr. Colbert, who seem to make a great deal of money from saying unbecoming things about people who deserve our respect.
