Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo — who played the calamity-magnet parents in National Lampoon's Vacation and three sequels — will reprise their roles in a new ad campaign to be launched during the Feb. 7 2010 Superbowl.

The advertised service in the homage to the 1983 original (about a madcap American roadtrip)? HomeAway vacation rentals, naturally!

Naturally! Because what better way to sell people on vacation rentals than reminding them about a movie about how terrible vacations are.

JK, it actually makes perfect sense. People feel nostalgia for the original film (which is great) and HomeAway is hoping to capitalize on it. Wow, with such a great innate understanding of how advertising works, someone should make me a "Mad Man!"

Regardless, some of the quotes regarding the promotion are still funny.

"To this day, people ask me, 'When is the next Vacation movie?" says Chase, currently starring in NBC's Community. "So I'm sure everyone will get a kick out of seeing the Griswolds and their misadventures once again."

"Oh, boy, I can't wait to see what crazy misadventures the Griswolds are up to now! Oh, they're just staring directly at the camera telling me to go to a website. Will their madcap shenanigans never end?!"

Adds D'Angelo: "Clark and Ellen have one of the most enduring marriages ever to come out of Hollywood. I am thrilled that HomeAway is reuniting Chevy and me."

"Honey, we need to talk. After seeing this commercial for HomeAway vacation rentals, Clark and Ellen's fictional enduring marriage really made me think about our impending divorce, and I decided that maybe we should stay together. Holidaaaaay rooooooaaaad!"
