We've got a lot of TV news popping up today, so let's briskly make our way through it. First things first, Conan O'Brien has almost kinda-sorta totally but maybe not but probably sure signed a deal with Fox. Might just be rumors, but let's cross our hearts and hope to definitely maybe but maybe not die.
FOX will announce during their fall/spring upfront on May 17th that they have signed Conan O’Brien to a contract and will join the network once his contract with NBC expires.
Hurray! Who doesn't want Conan to return as soon as possible?! Well, NBC definitely doesn't, but other than that, everyone loves Conan. Speaking of people everyone loves, Ricky Gervais's HBO podcast turned animated show The Ricky Gervais Show has been renewed for a second season.
Ricky Gervais will continue his podcast musings on HBO; the British comedian's animated series "The Ricky Gervais Show" is getting a second season.
Good work, television. Now everyone take a five minute break… … …
Enough of a break? Okay, back to it. As Oprah leaves her spot, it looks like Rosie O'Donnell may be trying to replace her. I guess someone wants to be a bajillionaire too!
“A void will exist starting in September with the single-subject format and Rosie would like to have some serious conversations, to get those big interviews.
“This is clearly a tipping point for daytime,” [Warner Bros. TV exec Scott] Carlin continues. “Rosie wants to get out there and do something exciting with water cooler moments. She’s not going to try to be provocative.”
Rosie O'Donnell has gone from being called the Queen of Nice to being seen as a kind of ultra-liberal feminazi, so this new incarnation should probably be a welcome change for her. Whew! There we made it!
