According to The Wrap, Will Ferrell is currently working on a Spanish-language film which will be subtitled in English. Their source does not indicate if Babelfish is being credited as a co-writer or not…
Will Ferrell… is attached to star in and produce a Spanish-language comedy titled Casa de mi padre, or House of My Father…
The film will be subtitled in English, the individual said.
While there is no official confirmation, and this film may not actually end up happening, one thing is for sure; American audiences love subtitles. Everyone knows the only reason Avatar did so well was because of it's innovative use of Papyrus fonts.
Apparently they already starting casting, and a Funny or Die director is going to helm the film. Who could it be? Hint: It's not Adam McKay. Could it be Eric Appel who directed today's Funny or Die short starring Mr. Ferrell?
I've embedded that video after the jump. Let's be detectives together!
Mystery: Will Eric Appel direct the new Will Ferrell Spanish-language movie, or will the director be Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory with the lead pipe?
Clues: Eric Appel is one of the top directors at Funny or Die. He worked as a writer for Human Giant before being brought on board to the ol' F&D (my very cool way of saying Funny or Die). He's directed a large percentage of the official F&D content. So it makes sense that all this time he was being groomed for bigger and better things longer than five minutes.
Colonel Mustard, on the other hand, is a fictional character in a board game designed specifically to bore children.
Prognosis: I don't actually know! My job is just to speculate wildly about things! I speculate Eric Appel or, barring that, probably someone else.
