You're telling me that two adorable musical comedians with numerous TV credits and a huge internet following are getting a development deal with HBO? Get out of town! That kind of thing only happens in the movies!
Comics Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome have inked a development pact with HBO for a laffer based on the duo's Garfunkel and Oates' musical comedy act.
I've been reading Variety and blogging and linking to stories from them for a while, but I still can't get over the fact that they non-ironically use the word "laffer." You are adults (kind of)! This is not the 50s! It makes you seem like an 80 year-old man wearing one of those propeller beanie hats.
Anyway, this is great news for Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome. I hope the show, which if I know Hollywood (and I don't) is being pitched as "Laverne and Shirley meets Flight of the Conchords," actually gets made. If it does, Kate and Riki will not abandon what gained them a following in the first place, the wonderful word of the intranet.
Micucci and Lindhome are writing the pilot with thesp-helmer Richie Keen ("Important Things With Demetri Martin"). There are also plans to develop a Web component, should the series be greenlit.
And that's it in "people who are clearly going to be famous seemingly getting closer to becoming famous" news.
