As a probably-smarmy individual once said, "it is the job of the comedian to turn a mirror on society and make the audience laugh at its own blemishes" …or something to that general effect. One comedian who continues to unpretentiously walk that delicate line between comedy and social commentary is the incomparable Marc Maron.
If you're an avid CC Insider reader, you're already familiar with Maron's WTF Podcast and his hilarious new album This Has To Be Funny, but today we come bearing a bit of a relic that will be re-emerging on September 12. This short documentary, filmed by Maron's Astoria neighbor at the time, Jodi Lennon, follows a day in the life of the comedian/pop philosopher on the week of September 11, 2001. Catch the somewhat unsettlingly real trailer below and see a list of screening dates and more details here.
