Last night the CC Insider went to the premiere of Fresh Meat a new show at the recently opened Comix in NYC. The show is a sweet blend of stand-up, solo-comedy, story telling, and video shorts hosted by the charming, witty, sexy Catie Lazarus (Daily Show, ECNY best comedy writer). Show was opened up by Patrick Borelli (Conan, ESPN). Check him out in his Premium Blend and Clip Joint performances. Next up was Livia Scott (Conan, UCB) doing some pieces from her one woman show which features the reading of actual letters to OJ Simpson during his trial. It’s as damn funny as it sounds. Then there was a short film Starring Tony Zaret and Directed by Joel Moss Levinson called Bone Boys which you can check out here. Next was David Hill (NY Times, Smoking Gun on Court TV, Vh1) reading a bit from his “memoirs” followed by a twisted video message from his “corporate sponsor.” Last but certainly not least was Tom Shillue (Daily Show, Comedy Central Presents) who shared the details of the Dick Cheney like sleep training methods he has been using on his new baby. Besides having a great mix of comedic talent, what makes this show unique is that after all the sets the comedians came back to the stage and shared a little about themselves in a Q & A session with audience moderated by Lazarus. Snapped some photos while we were there:
