Scientists at the University of Stirling with too much time on their hands devised a computer-generated composite of "the perfect comedy face" (shown above). There you have it, British computers think there's nothing funnier than the bastard offspring of Gene Hackman and a young Grandpa Munster.

Apparently, the mug of Office (UK) creator/star Ricky Gervais embodies many criteria for funny features, typified as "soft and feminine." Replied the comedian:

"All these years I assumed my global success as a comedian was down to my acute observations, expert directorial rendering and consummate skills as a performer.

Turns out it's because I've got a fat girly face."
