Tina Fey on MILF Island

April 2, 2008 AT 04:52PM | Comments (2)

Tinafey2 On Monday I posted links to two Tina Fey interviews, but they were actually both from a conference call Fey held with members of the entertainment press last week. And now Cinema Blend has posted a transcript of the entire epic phone-call. Here's a little:

I love the title of the upcoming episode, by the way.

Tina Fey: MILF Island?

Yeah. I was just wondering, what’s the premise of the reality show?

Tina Fey: It is a Survivor-like show where, oh gosh - I think it’s 20 MILF’s and 50 eighth grade boys are put on an island. And we actually sat down and tried to figure out the rules of MILF Island and were not entirely successful. It involves something where the boys vote the moms off if they don’t like them anymore. And then it involves physical challenges and that’s about all that we now[sic]. But when I sell it to Ben Silverman, we’ll know more.

The full thing is split into two parts: Tina Fey Talks About 30 Rock (Part 1) and (Part 2).

Meanwhile, The Seattle Times has a piece about NBC's Thursday night comedy shows with quotes from Fey as well as Rainn Wilson from The Office and Jason Lee from My Name Is Earl.

And speaking of The Office, Cornell's campus paper has a review of a stand-up show BJ Novak did there over the weekend.

B.J. Novak's Amazing Museum Prank

June 11, 2007 AT 10:29AM | Comments (0)

Bjnovak Might be old news by now, but this one's worth sharing: Back in high school, B.J. Novak from The Office organized an elaborate prank involving a local Chinese Art Exhibit, a few friends, and some personal recording equipment. From B.J.'s myspace:

Basically, we took [a] tour of this exhibit of Chinese art. They had one of those audio tours where you put on headphones and get a guided tour of the art ("turn to your left... you will see...." etc.).

We decided it would be funny to replace the tapes of the tour with our own recording. We stole a cassette tape from the tour, took it back home, and transcribed where everything was in the exhibit. Then we wrote our own tour and recorded that. My brother Jesse Novak matched it up with appropriate ancient-Chinese-sounding music in the background.

We made fifteen copies of the tapes and got fifteen friends to take the tour with a new tape in their pocket. On the tour, everyone quietly replaced the original tape with the new tape at some point before returning the headset at the end of the tour. This left the next batch of museumgoers with the new tour we recorded.

And you can hear the track for yourself right here, via iTunes. (It's over ten minutes long, but well worth it.)
