Web Comic Predicts The Future... And It Is Airwolf

May 16, 2008 AT 06:06PM | Comments (1)

Loyal readers of the amazing webcomic Achewood will be only mildly shocked to hear that the frankly insanely improbable adventures of Ray the Cat might just be spilling over into reality. In 2006, Ray bought Airwolf from eBay Platinum Reserve (password: What's The Best Thing You Got), and now, in a possibly recession induced move, A REPLICA OF AIRWOLF IS AVAILABLE ON EBAY!

Here's some random Wolfyness from the first episode:

And make sure to check out the whole Airwolf on Achewood adventure here!

Easily Amused Department: Defacing Classic Album Covers

Sometimes all it takes is a quick Photoshop job and a few decades' worth of jacket art to make our day:

You can find more hi-larious entries of this b3ta.com challenge here. Like many examples of British humo(u)r, some work on many levels. I especially like the Gary Glitter-embossed edition of Nirvana's "Nevermind."

Worst. Superheroes. Ever.

May 14, 2008 AT 09:40AM | Comments (0)

Invizjerk

With production in the works for the next 30 Hulk movies, Something Awful has noted that we may come to a time when there are no more comic books to adapt for the screen, and offers some notable suggestions (The Invisible Jerk, Captain Obvious, Captain Cockblock).

While these creations are timeless, I'd like to add a few that might be cropping up in the news.

Super Delegate
Unknown bureaucrat by day, this hero can sniff out smoke-filled rooms from miles away and can bring healing closure to what feels like a decade-long primary struggle.

The Green Lighter
This mysterious Hollywood executive can green light, film, and release Superhero movies faster than a coherent script can be written!

Homewrecker
Combining his skills as an economist and one-man wrecking ball, Homewrecker can explain the collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market at the same time as he's kicking you out of the house you can no longer afford.

BBC Uses Tits to Get Linked on Blog

May 8, 2008 AT 04:50PM | Comments (1)

Listen, I get that working at the BBC probably gets boring. All the reporting about meat pies and The Queen and scones and Queen can really wear on you, so sometimes you need to cut loose and have fun. Sometimes you need to write a story about birds named after boobs so a comedy blog will link to you. And you know what? I will oblige:

Bbctits

You're welcome.

South Park Gets a "What What" From Samwell's "In the Butt" Producers

In the recent "Canada on Strike" episode of South Park the boys parodied the earworm viral video What What (In the Butt):

In case you were wondering how producers of the original Samwell video, Bobby Ciraldo and Andrew Swant, took to the homage, check it:

"We've both been fans for a long time. Matt and Trey are incredibly smart. And Team America is a very important film.

"[We think] the Butters version is great! Butters really stepped up to the plate and gave it everything he had, but let's face it: he's not as mysteriously unnerving as Samwell. Check out Samwell's smile at 1:27. But seriously, the attention to detail they put into the Butters version is very flattering. It's a full minute, shot-for-shot remake of something we put a lot of work into, by a show we respect a TON."

They also share their feelings about waiting for web profits and breaking into "The Biz" via the interwebs. You can find the whole article here.

Is This Logo Real or Are We Being Jerked Around?

April 24, 2008 AT 10:42AM | Comments (1)

I remember once being told that the Ford Edsel was specifically designed to look like a big metal ding-dong. True or not, wangs sell. Case in point, this new logo for Britain's Office of Government Commerce:

Ogclogo_2

Which, when turned 90-degrees, looks like this...

Ogc1_2

Pretty scandalous, but it's still not as suggestive as this logo for the law firm of Equals, Equals, Equals, Derbyshire, Hyphen, Hyphen, Hyphen, Oppenheimer, Dash and Colonstein:

Forgotten Atari Games

Mighty God King has a whole bunch of shopped Atari 2600 game covers. They're all pretty hilarious and awesome, but this one's my favorite:

Fuckingcheckers_2

There's more where that came from.
