Jason Sudeikis to Host MTV Movie Awards

Posted by:

Handsome SNL-er Jason Sudeikis is set to host the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, June 5 at 9/8c! He joins such past hosts as Dennis Miller (1992), Eddie Murphy (1993), and noted comedian Jessica Alba (2006), among a plethora of others. As with all earth-shattering announcements of great geopolitical import, this secret was unveiled via Ryan Seacrest's radio show! OMG!

Jason becomes the ninth ‘SNL’ cast member to host the show, following in the footsteps of such comedians as Jimmy Fallon and Andy Samberg.

Although Jason’s game plan for the day of the awards is undetermined, what has been agreed on is that Jason is “funny hot.” In which he responds to as, “oh, whoa, alright…I’ll take that, I’ll take that in a heartbeat.”

If you enjoy "funny hot," go have a look around the MTV Movie Awards site. You can gaze upon the visages of various pretty humans, including Katy Perry and whoever stars in those MTV reality shows these days.

Also, please note the caption under this adorable photo of Sarah Silverman: "This sassy 2007 MTV Movie Awards host showed us that nobody in the crowd was off limits!" Indeed she did. Indeed. She. Did.

Are Men Funny?

Posted by:

Ever since comedy was first invented in 1983, people have been arguing over whether it's possible for a man to be funny. And, as you'll see in this video shot on the red carpet at the first annual Comedy Awards, even in such a supposedly progressive era, the debate continues to rage on.

For what it's worth, I don't think it's possible for a man or a woman to be funny. Only hermaphrodites are truly capable of comedy.

The first annual Comedy Awards premieres Sunday at 9/8c simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Logo, TV Land and VH1 and online at thecomedyawards.com/webcast.

Join Andrew Daly, Jen Kirkman and Christian Finnegan for the Comedy Awards Webcast Pre-Show

Posted by:

When the first annual Comedy Awards premieres this Sunday, at 9/8c, it will air simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Logo, TV Land and VH1. And, as if those aren't enough viewing options, the show will also stream online at thecomedyawards.com/webcast. I heard they wanted it to be available on refrigerators too, but the technology hasn't quite been perfected. Maybe next year.

Now, some of the benefits of watching the Webcast are obvious. It's easier to watch on the toilet, and it allows viewers to easily tab over to their favorite porn sites. But beyond that, with the Webcast, you'll also get to watch the online-exclusive Pre-Show. It starts at 8:45 and features commentary by the great Andy Daly and Jen Kirkman along with red carpet interviews by Christian Finnegan. Andy and Jen will also host a series of short intermissions throughout the show with more interviews and coverage of the backstage press conference.

Among the interviewees are Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Louis CK, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Kristin Schaal, Olivia Munn, Craig Robinson, Questlove & The Roots, Ty Burrell, Chloe Moretz, The Gregory Brothers, Rob Corddry and more. Only a crazy person would want to miss that!

More Presenters and Attendees Announced for The Comedy Awards

Posted by:

There are just two more days until the first annual Comedy Awards tape at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. I'll be there live-blogging the big event on Saturday, but more importantly a ton of amazing comedy people are going to be there.

Like, you know how during joint sessions of Congress, they have a designated survivor stay far away, because basically everyone in the line of Presidential succession is in the same room all at once, and a meteor could crash and kill the whole government? Well, comedy should stash someone in a bunker in Omaha Saturday, because everyone is going to be at this thing!

In addition to the talent we announced earlier this week, the newly confirmed presenters and attendees include…

Alec Baldwin
Will Ferrell
Jon Cryer
Garry Shandling
Adam McKay
Samantha Bee
Wyatt Cenac
Jason Jones
Aasif Mandvi
Olivia Munn
John Oliver
John Hodgman
The Gregory Brothers

They will all join Jon Stewart, Ty Burrell, Louis C.K., Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry, Tina Fey, Bill Hader, Chloë Moretz, Tracy Morgan, Trey Parker, Craig Robinson, Andy Samberg, Matt Stone and Kristen Wiig, as well as musical guests The Lonely Island featuring Akon and house band The Roots at the first annual Comedy Awards.

The show tapes this Saturday night at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and airs Sunday, April 10 at 9/8c simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Logo, TV Land, VH1 and Nick at Nite.

The Comedy Awards to Honor Eddie Murphy, Additional Talent Announced

Posted by:

The first annual Comedy Awards will be held this weekend in New York, and today we've received a bunch of new details about the honorees, presenters and attendees, starting with Eddie Murphy, who will be receiving the distinguished Comedy Icon Award.

According to the press release, the Comedy Icon Award will be "presented annually to a modern icon, an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to comedy and whose impact and innovations have changed the landscape and inspired future generations of entertainers." So it's pretty clear why Eddie Murphy would be chosen as the inaugural recipient. From SNL to stand-up to movies, few have left a mark on the comedy world like he has.

Meanwhile, the list of presenters and attendees is nothing short of amazing. Among those who will be at the ceremony are Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Tracy Morgan, Matt Stone, Trey Parker, Ty Burrell, Louis C.K., Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry, Bill Hader, Chloë Moretz, Craig Robinson, Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig. That's like every great comedy person on earth, right? Well, no, because more guests are still to be named later in the week.

Finally, what would a comedy show be without music? I guess it would still technically be a comedy show, but it would be a much less fun comedy show. The Roots have been announced as the show's house band! And as if that's not enough, The Lonely Island will be onstage performing "I Just Had Sex" with Akon, live for the first time ever.

The Comedy Awards tape at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom this Saturday and will air Sunday, April 10 at 9/8c simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Logo, TV Land, VH1 and Nick at Nite.
