Wednesday night, you might have seen Jon Stewart interview Paula Broadwell about her book All In. But what you didn't see was this segment where Paula challenged Jon to a pushup contest to benefit the wounded veterans charity Team Red, White and Blue.
A warning to our younger readers: This video contains uncensored explicit language.
A warning to our older readers: This video features three people in way better shape than you.
If you like comedy and ensuring that veterans have the proper living conditions, then you need to get yourself to Miami on Saturday, November 26. Tracy Morgan will be headlining a show at The Fillmore Miami Beach hosted by Dolphins' tight end Anthony Fasano to benefit Rebuilding Together: Veterans Housing, a charity that provides home repair services for retired and active-duty service members. You can find more details and purchase tickets here.
In the meantime, you can see Tracy on 30 Rock every weeknight at 7/6.
Over the years, Stephen Colbert has been anything but shy about his support for DonorsChoose.org. It's pretty much the polar opposite of bears, or the regular opposite of polar bears. And for good reason; it's an excellent organization that has helped thousands of classrooms in need. Well, if you want to contribute to DonorsChoose.org, you can now do so and get a cool Colbert Report photo out of the deal. Click here to view 45 photos from the show that are being auctioned off, place your bid, and if you win, you get the picture and the proceeds help to fund classroom projects all over the country.
Here are a few of the photos (click the images to bid):
In the future, we'll be able to upload our entire consciousnesses to a computer and live forever. But today, we'll have to settle for just uploading our faces. And while it won't allow you to live forever, if you upload your face to The Stephen and Melinda Gates Foundation website, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will donate a sawbuck to DonorsChoose.org, up to $100,000 (or 20,000 sawbucks). Here's Stephen Colbert to tell you about it.
Stephen's interview with Melinda Gates can be found after the jump along with an example image that I made.
Lewis Black's latest charity endeavor is sure to shake up the establishment of angry middle-aged men. There seems to be a generally accepted rule among Black's breed, that a key component to being an angry middled-aged man is to be as angry as one is inactive in effecting change. Lewis Black is an egregious rule breaker. Here's what Laughspin has to say about Black's suspiciously pro-active plans:
Black, a champion of celebrity philanthropy, is offering an exclusive auction opportunity through Charitybuzz, the leader in online charity auctions. One winner will win 10 tickets in First Tier, Luxury Seating for Lewis’s highly-acclaimed, “In God We Trust” comedy show at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The auction runs until Sept 13. And, you need not to live in New Jersey to take make a difference. You can always donate to Millennium Promise right here at the organization’s official site.
It seems no coincidence that Black has set up this sting in New Jersey; it's a hot bed for particularly angry middle-aged men whose discontent is rivaled only by the stench that has collected on their static minds and bodies. But let's not forget, Lewis Black has already infamously upset the balance of AM-AM on The Daily Show and the stand-up circuit by breaking another key rule time and time again– no being intentionally funny. Luckily his crime has been captured on tape and reproduced after the jump for your enjoyment.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm/10c.
As promised, Stephen Colbert appeared on Friday's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and performed Rebecca Black's viral hit "Friday." The Roots backed him up, Jimmy joined in, and then at some point (SPOILER ALERT!) Taylor Hicks showed up, because that actually almost makes too much sense. Best of all, it raised a ton of money for a great cause, with the current total at $66,675, way beyond the initial $26,000. I say we raise a million dollars for DonorsChoose.org and get Stephen to sing some Hoobastank deep cuts! Who's with me?!
Oh, and I scanned that QR code. After the jump, you can see where it led.
Last week, after the auction of his portrait raised $26,000 for DonorsChoose.org, Stephen Colbert announced that his BFFSM Jimmy Fallon would be generously matching the amount. But on last night's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy claimed he never made the pledge, prompting Stephen to appear onstage and angrily goad Jimmy to come through with the money. Rather than me describing what happened next, why don't you just watch the video for yourself, and I'll donate the unused keystrokes to DonorsChoose.org?
For real, let's make this happen, guys! Click here to read more about DonorsChoose.org's Jimmy Fallon/Stephen Colbert Project and to make your contribution. As of this writing the total is up to just under five grand, so we've got some work to do if we're going to hit $26,000 by Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday.
As the DonorsChoose.org page makes clear, this is not an April Fools joke.
Time to take a break from the comedy and talk about something serious. I certainly don't have to tell you how severe and far-reaching the devastation is in Japan following last week's earthquake and tsunami. And while I'm sure your heart goes out to the victims, the recovery needs more than your heart, it needs your money. So, we're urging you to dig as deep as possible and make a donation to the American Red Cross. As you can see below, giving is as simple as texting REDCROSS to 90999. Or you can make a contribution with your credit card by clicking the image or right here.
