Earlier today we brought you some images from the Futurama season finale, featuring the Planet Express crew as old school video game characters. We also have two more exclusive images of the Fleischer-style cartoon segment. My favorite part about old cartoons is how much Dexter-level violence is performed while the characters sing and dance. That skeleton is not a xylophone. It is a skeleton!

At long last, we have reached the end of this season's Countdown to Futurama. Today's installment is really great too, because director Edmund Fong has written an introduction, so you don't have to suffer through my bologna this time. Take it away, Edmund!
When finding inspiration and reference for a project, nothing can substitute experience. That's not always easy working on a show that takes place over 1000 years in the future and in the case of the episode "Neutopia", on an alien, terrestrial planet. So, instead of jetting out to Mars, I drove to the California desert to photograph a miniaturized version of the Futurama gang amongst the giant rocks in Joshua Tree National Park. The experience of hiking in this otherworldly environment gave a tangible sense of scale and composition that was more informative than any internet search. During production, the photographs provided continuous influence for the artists at Rough Draft Studios and we hope this came through in the final result.

Gauging from the comments on previous posts, it seems like the episode Futurama fans are most looking forward to this season is Reincarnation, which will see the characters re-imagined in three different animation styles. Well, get geeked, nerds (and get nerded, geeks), because today you get to see a clip from that very episode.

I used to fancy myself pretty skilled at digging wax out of people's ears, but then some jerk had to go and invent the cotton swab and show me up. So I can really relate to Zoidberg in this scene from the upcoming episode The Silence of the Clamps, wherein Clamps gets a job at the Planet Express and upstages the good doctor.

We've seen lots of great storyboards and character designs throughout the Countdown, but a quick comparison of the Mona Lisa and Fast Five is all you need to know that motion pictures are always better than still pictures, so let's watch a video today. The past two days, we brought you several images of the Futurama world as seen through anime-tinted glasses. Today, we get to see what Leela and Bender will look like in the upcoming episode Reincarnation. I can't think of anything more anime than a one-eyed girl and her robot friend. I might be wrong, but I'm 100% sure that is the plot of Kimba the White Lion.
