Before They Get Stale: Wyatt Cenac, Louis CK and Chelsea Handler

Posted by:

Wyatt Cenac on doing double duty, as a correspondent and a writer on The Daily Show, "It’s nice because I think doing both jobs, one informs the other, and you get to know the limits of each job, as far as what feasibly can and can’t be done." Wyatt Cenac: Comedy Person premieres tomorrow at 11/10c. [AV Club]

Louis CK talks about growing up and how that shaped his comedy, "That was my comedy upbringing in Boston. If you weren’t funny you got your ass kicked. It wasn’t just about getting laughs; it was about survival." [Playboy]

It's starting to look like Mindy Kaling may not return to The Office as a writer, but she will probably stay on as a cast member. [NY Mag]

Tony Hendra, a man who worked on Spy and National Lampoon magazine, and was in This Is Spinal Tap, started a parody newspaper which boasts some impressive contributors like Terry Jones and Mike Myers, as well as pieces by a bunch of New York comics. [Final Edition]

High Road Is Like UCB Fan Porn

Posted by:

We all love Lizzy Caplan, Joe Lo Truglio, Ed Helms, Rob Riggle, Kyle Gass, marijuana (just kidding!) and improv (really just kidding!), right? Then clearly we will all love High Road, a film about stoners doing stoner things. It's written (we assume loosely, given the improv) and directed by UCB founder Matt Walsh.

Also, if you are a fan of cute 19-year-old boys, you maybe would enjoy the appearance of one Dylan O'Brien. There's nothing wrong with adding sexy baby man-candy to hilarity, right? Other comedy directors, please note: put this kid in everything you do from now on. Sure, he was born in the '90s, but that just means we have many more years to enjoy his hotness… um, and the trailer? Yeah, here it is. (NSFW)

Matt Walsh Directing Improvised Feature Film with All-Star Cast

Posted by:

In 1992, the United States assembled an Olympic basketball team specifically designed to embarrass other countries for being shitty at basketball. And now, in 2010, Matt Walsh assembled a bunch of improv ringers to make an improvised feature film designed to embarrass writers for writing words…

[Walsh] has recruited a raft of well-known comedians to star, including Horatio Sanz ("Saturday Night Live"), Rob Riggle ("The Daily Show With Jon Stewart"), Abby Elliott ("SNL"), Lizzy Kaplan ("Hot Tub Time Machine"), Kyle Gass ("Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny") and Zach Woods ("The Office").

That's a lot of people, but it's not like that's all the people…

The film follows a part-time weed dealer who goes on the run with a 16-year-old smartass after a drug deal goes bad. Joe Lo Truglio, Andrew Daly, Brandon Johnson, Seth Morris, Joe Nunez, Rich Fulcher and Dylan O'Brien also have joined the cast.

Yep, that's all the people, alright. I'm sure there will be even more cameos. Matt is one of the founding members of Upright Citizen's Brigade and has appeared in small roles in sooooo many movies. So it makes sense that everyone else who drops in for those small memorable roles in other films would do the same in his movie.

Also, saying Matt designed it to "embarrass writers for writing words," is a little unfair (Yeah, who was the little shit who wrote that?!) because he is working on the loose screenplay with Josh Weiner (who has a funny name if you are a six-year old). The film sounds really interesting!

"After creating an improvised sitcom for Spike TV called 'Players,' I wanted to try my skills at a longer format, and I am fortunate enough to know some of the funniest actors around," Walsh said…

Walsh created, executive produces and stars in "Players," which returns to Spike TV next week.

I like the idea that Matt is taking what he's learned on his sitcom, and I'm interested to see how the loosey-goosey feel of improv translates to a bigger project.

Joe Lo Truglio Goes Green on Set of Paul

Posted by:

The website for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's Greg Mottola-directed film Paul has gone live, and with it a bunch of videos of funny people doing funny people things. Here's a video of Joe Lo Truglio doing his part to save the planet, one metallic water bottle at a time.

If you're sitting there thinking, "Wow, that was really great. I am satisfied with this internet video from the set of the film Paul," well, then, make room for desert, buddy boy, because I'm about to make you even more satisfied (ew, gross sentence). There's a lot more video from the set of Paul where that came from!

Before They Get Stale: Joe Lo Truglio, Andy Kindler and Jack Black

Posted by:

15961556Simon Pegg posted a picture gallery including Joe Lo Truglio, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Greg Mottola, and Nick Frost working together on the upcoming movie, Paul. Also three dogs apparently are involved somehow. Executive producers? [Peggster]

Andy Kindler interviewed college graduates on Letterman. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but no one should call themselves a graduate until they've schtupped their girlfriend's mom and then ran a long time to Simon and Garfunkel. [TV Squad]

Whoever said Hollywood was out of ideas hadn't realized no one thought of casting Adam Sandler and Cher to voice zoo animals yet. Fortunately, someone finally did and with that, Hollywood is officially out of ideas. [Entertainment Weekly]

Jack Black and J.J. Abrams are working on a "comedy involving music." Black doesn't want to say much because it's not a guarantee, but his silence speaks louder than words. This is definitely 100% going to happen. [MTV]

Katey Segal and Billy West are really excited to be involved in more Futurama. I'm excited they're excited. [TV Squad]

Jimmy Fallon and Nick Cannon prove it is possible to do a Bill Cosby impression without mentioning pudding. [LNWJF]

YouTube hurts Dave Hill's feelings. If it's any consolation, most YouTube commenters only lash out because their parents unfairly grounded them this weekend even though they are totally 42 already! Lighten up, Mom! [Decider]

Now that there's a map pinpointing the real life locations depicted in Seinfeld, you can avoid looking like a complete tourist and eat at Monk's Cafe like an authentic New Yorker. [Sony Pictures]

Comedian Jason Nash talks about creating The Shaman, which also features Laura Silverman. I posted the first episode after the jump. [A Special Thing]
