Colin Quinn Has a Skeleton Full of Bones to Pick with the Daily Show Staff

Posted by:

Okay, sure. Jon Stewart gets to interview Senators and Presidents, foreign dignitaries and pop culture icons on his show. Fine, sure, whatever. I'll grant you that. But, for me, one of my favorite things about The Daily Show is when one of his old stand-up buddies gets booked. The whole tone of the show changes, and for just a few minutes, it feels like we're in the back of a dark nicotine-stained comedy club watching a couple of guys hang out.

Take a look at this conversation between Jon and longtime friend Colin Quinn, and then watch tonight's interview with Mike Huckabee and see if you can pick out any differences…

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11/10c.

John Oliver and Brendon Walsh Talk About Austin

Posted by:

One time I went to Austin and had these really good avocado margaritas, and there was a group of college-age kids at the table next to us planning a porn website. That is a true story that I will someday tell my grandchildren. So, when Brendon Walsh and John Oliver talk about Austin being a drunk, slutty, attractive town in this exclusive video from SXSW, I can't help but wonder if they too have enjoyed avocado margaritas next to eager young pornographers.

An all-new episode of John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show airs tonight at 12/11c with guests Deon Cole, Moshe Kasher, Marina Franklin, and Maria Bamford.

Daily Show Correspondent Files Challenge: Interviews

Posted by:

A number of studies have been published in recent years criticizing standardized tests. I don't know what the criticisms are, because I didn't read the studies, because what am I some kind of nerd? But I'd be willing to guess that it has something to do with the fact that SATs and the like don't involve watching funny TV shows. After all, the quizzes in the Daily Show Correspondent Files Challenge have never been criticized in an published study. Ergo, you should study this video and then go take the latest quiz. It's about interviews.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11/10c.

10:47: Well, that's it. The first annual Comedy Awards are over. Be sure to tune-in to see the show when it premieres simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Logo, TV Land, VH1 and Nick at Nite, Sunday, April 10 at 9/8c. It'll be like reading this live-blog except with people instead of words.

10:44: From backstage – Ty Burrell says his dream guest-stars for Modern Family are Steve Martin, Bill Murray and Albert Brooks.

10:36: "God bless basic cable. Goodnight, everybody."

10:32: After gushing about Bill Murray, now he's gushing about Johnny Carson. Incredibly humble and gracious and hilarious all at the same time.

10:31: We've just been treated to a delightful Letterman f-bomb. Unprecedented?

10:29: Letterman just came out to accept the award from behind Johnny Carson's original Tonight Show curtain. It hasn't been seen in almost 20 years.

10:27: Now Bill Murray is talking about how amazing David Letterman is. He just called him "the most important person in late night."

10:26: Watching a great montage of Letterman clips. He's the fucking best. Also, Justin Bieber was in it. I might have made that happen with my mind.

10:23: The Johnny Carson Award for Comedic Excellence is being presented to David Letterman on account of nothing has ever made more sense in the history of anything.

10:19: Holy shit, Bill Murray. I repeat, holy shit, Bill Murray!

10:17: In case you thought The Roots might have stopped destroying at some point, I feel obligated to let you know that they did. They've now begun annihilating.

10:13: Time for the In Memoriam segment. It's a bummer, but the clips are also super funny, so it's kind of a funny bummer. Let's call it a fummer.

More Presenters and Attendees Announced for The Comedy Awards

Posted by:

There are just two more days until the first annual Comedy Awards tape at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. I'll be there live-blogging the big event on Saturday, but more importantly a ton of amazing comedy people are going to be there.

Like, you know how during joint sessions of Congress, they have a designated survivor stay far away, because basically everyone in the line of Presidential succession is in the same room all at once, and a meteor could crash and kill the whole government? Well, comedy should stash someone in a bunker in Omaha Saturday, because everyone is going to be at this thing!

In addition to the talent we announced earlier this week, the newly confirmed presenters and attendees include…

Alec Baldwin
Will Ferrell
Jon Cryer
Garry Shandling
Adam McKay
Samantha Bee
Wyatt Cenac
Jason Jones
Aasif Mandvi
Olivia Munn
John Oliver
John Hodgman
The Gregory Brothers

They will all join Jon Stewart, Ty Burrell, Louis C.K., Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry, Tina Fey, Bill Hader, Chloë Moretz, Tracy Morgan, Trey Parker, Craig Robinson, Andy Samberg, Matt Stone and Kristen Wiig, as well as musical guests The Lonely Island featuring Akon and house band The Roots at the first annual Comedy Awards.

The show tapes this Saturday night at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and airs Sunday, April 10 at 9/8c simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, Logo, TV Land, VH1 and Nick at Nite.
