Funny guy, SNL writer, and Law & Order disecter John Mulaney performed on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last week to promote his upcoming CC stand-up special, New in Town, which airs Saturday, January 28 at 10/9c. Watch his routine here:

I don't know, though, I think he may have been a little harsh on Delta Air Lines. They don't have a shoe fee yet (this is a fee charged for wearing shoes on board). I don't think any of the other airlines have this yet, either, but I'm just saying, you have to give credit where credit is due, John. NO SHOE FEE!

This year, Anthony Weiner's career ended because we saw way too much of him. On the other hand, Tim Pawlenty's campaign bit the dust because even his own mother would have had trouble picking him out in a lineup. If only their respective levels of exposure could have met in the middle, they might both be as relevant as they were back in March.

If you've been having trouble finding a gauntlet lately, I think I know why. Stephen Fallon and Jimmy Fallon are hogging them all so they can continue throwing them down in their epic ongoing ice cream battle. Well, on last night's Late Night, Jimmy threw down yet another one, insisting that Americone Dream is not in fact a food and calling on his audience to suggest uses for the stuff.

As part of this year's New York Comedy Festival, the great Bill Burr will be performing at Carnegie Hall on Friday, November 11 at 7:30pm. It should be a phenomenal show. To get tickets, just hop in your time-machine and go back to before they were sold-out. So maybe you won't be able to see the Carnegie Hall show, but you can watch Bill sit down with Jimmy Fallon on last night's Late Night.

While watching Jon Benjamin Has a Van, you may notice that Jon bears a striking resemblance to film super-star Bruce Willis. For one thing, they both have heads. For another thing, Die Hard is a great movie. First he was on The Daily Show Tuesday night, and then last night Stephen Colbert spent a segment accusing Jimmy of trying to ride Stephen's coattails to Emmy glory. Not that I mind; I like Jimmy Fallon. I'm just saying, don't be surprised if he somehow works his way into a Scrubs rerun tonight.

The Daily Show returns with new episodes tonight as Jon hosts Jimmy Fallon who will be by to discuss his new book Thank You Notes. Then, tomorrow it's PBS legend Bill Moyers, followed by Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow on Thursday. While tonight's show will mark Jimmy Fallon's first TDS appearance, it will not be his first run-in with Jon. Here they are back in March on The Colbert Report in a confrontation that was, much like my honeymoon, marked by the presence of ice cream and bludgeoning tools.

Josh Gad on The Book of Mormon

There's a new group of superheroes on Broadway, and they don't wear red onesies while singing U2 songs and putting innocent people's lives in danger. That would just be a terrible, unheroic idea. These superheroes hail from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, better known as The Mormons.

With 14 Tony nominations and 5 Drama Desk wins, The Book of Mormon is Broadway's saving grace, spawned from the wonderfully vulgar minds of Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park fame along with Bobby Lopez who penned Avenue Q.

The South Park duo sat down with the unflinching Terry Gross of NPR's Fresh Air last week, one of the show's Tony-nominated stars, Andrew Rannells, showed off his vocal chops on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Tuesday, and Josh Gad (the other star, also Tony-nominated) talked about his newfound success, his fears, and his dream of being on South Park with NYMag's Vulture yesterday. Some of Gad's highlights:

On his initial thoughts about the show:
When I first got the phone call three years ago, the very first thing that I was sent was that very controversial number [“Fuck You, God”] about where God can shove it. And it was completely out of context and I called up my agent and I said, “I don’t know if I can do this.” Not because I don’t think Trey and Matt and Bobby [Lopez, who co-created the musical] are the most brilliant people alive. But because I really like not getting shot. And I would love to live a little bit longer.

Upon hearing that Bobby Lopez might do an episode of South Park:
I’ve expressed to them how much I would kill to be even a background character on the show. But they haven’t asked me just yet. I’m going to keep pursuing them. And now that you’ve given me ammo, I’m going to say, “If Bobby can do it, why can’t I, damn it?”

At first glance, the US and the UK appear to have a lot in common. They both speak English, they both have a lot of white people, and they both enjoy anything deep-fried. But there's at least one thing that separates the two countries: Freedom! And I was reminded of that just today when I skimmed this article about a ban on satirical coverage of Friday's wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Well, I might got to British prison (or as they call it over there, prisoun) for this, but I feel it is my duty to fight back against the suppression of free speech, especially when I can do it without leaving the couch. A couple weeks ago, Stephen Colbert appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and performed Rebecca Black's "Friday" with The Roots. You probably remember that, but on the off-chance you have amnesia from getting bucked by a mule, I figured it was worth mentioning. Anyway, the LNwJF folks have released a delightful little behind-the-scenes featurette with Stephen and Jimmy rehearsing for the performance. It's pretty much the Hearts of Darkness of viral video cover songs.
